BATON ROUGE — The 2003 LSU baseball media guide has been voted No. 3 in the nation by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) at their annual convention in Cleveland.
In addition, CoSIDA voted the cover of the LSU baseball guide “Best in the Nation.”
The media guide, which was published by the LSU Sports Information department, was written and edited by baseball publicist Bill Franques. The guide was designed by Marie Brewer and Jason Feirman, and it was illustrated with photography by Steve Franz.
The award-winning cover, designed by Brewer, featured LSU coach Smoke Laval and all-SEC players Aaron Hill and Jake Tompkins. The cover also included a tribute to the late Wally Pontiff, the Tigers’ all-conference and Academic all-America third baseman.
The LSU baseball brochure has been selected as one of CoSIDA’s Top 6 publications in nine of the past 11 years. In that span, the guide has finished No. 1 twice, No. 2 twice, No. 3 once and No. 4 twice.
The baseball guide awards increase LSU’s number of 2002-03 CoSIDA honors to four. LSU placed No. 1 in the nation for women’s basketball guides and No. 3 in District VI for football posters.
