BATON ROUGE — LSU offensive lineman Stephen Peterman and cornerback Corey Webster have both been recognized by Athlon Sports as preseason All-America selections.
Athlon Sports preseason college football magazine will be available on the newsstands on June 6.
Peterman, a senior guard from Waveland, Miss., earned a spot on the magazine’s second-team All-America squad, while Webster, a senior from Vacherie, is a third-team selection.
Last year, Peterman earned first-team All-Southeastern Conference honors and he’s been rated as the nation’s No. 1 rated guard heading into the 2003 season by The Sporting News. Peterman is entering his third season as a starter on the LSU offensive line.
Webster led the SEC and ranked among the nation’s leaders with seven interceptions in 2002. He tied a school-record with three interceptions, including one in which he returned 45 yards for a touchdown, in a 36-7 win over Florida.
Athlons has the Tigers rated No. 18 in the nation in the preseason poll.
