Golf Facility to be Completed in the Fall of 2002
BATON ROUGE — Construction of a new $850,000 clubhouse and golf practice facility is underway at the University Club, with completion targeted for the fall of 2002. This addition will be the biggest for the LSU men’s and women’s golf programs since the opening of the University Club in 1998.
The project and is being funded by the Tiger Athletic Foundation.
The building will serve as a meeting and practice location for the teams, as well as a learning center, equipment repair and storage facility. It will also house two indoor hitting bays and a room that can be used for video analysis in a classroom setting.
The new building will also contain locker rooms for both the men’s and women’s teams and will have an office for each coach as well as meeting rooms, a kitchen and outdoor storage areas.
LSU men’s golf coach Greg Jones feels that the building will be a huge recruiting tool since most other schools in the conference have similar facilities already or are planning to construct them in the future.
“This facility will provide each player with every tool that they need to improve their games and prepare them for any type of professional career they choose to pursue”, said Jones.
