Kipps Signs Contract With Buccaneers

BATON ROUGE — Former LSU football standout Kyle Kipps has signed a free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team announced on Monday.

Kipps, a Lafayette, La., native, will play defensive end for the Buccaneers.

Kipps was a four-year letterwinner for LSU, playing his first two seasons as a tight end before shifting to the defensive end spot as a junior and senior.

As a senior for the Tigers in 2001, Kipps recorded 29 tackles and two sacks during the regular season in helping LSU to the Southeastern Conference title. Kipps had perhaps the best defensive game of his career against Arkansas in 2001 as he registered five tackles, four of which went for losses, in LSU’s 41-38 win over the Razorbacks.

On offense, Kipps played and started in 13 games for the Tigers in 1998 and 1999. For his career, Kipps had 20 receptions for 225 yards and four touchdowns.

Kipps capped his career with 53 total tackles and three sacks. He also recorded nine tackles for losses.
