BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team finished its spring schedule with an undefeated record on Saturday as the Tigers dropped the Rice Owls, 3-1, at the LSU Soccer Complex.
“We feel really happy about the way that our team performed during the spring,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos. “We showed a lot of promise and cohesiveness as a team, and finishing the spring with an undefeated record is quite an accomplishment. We’re excited about the fall.”
LSU finished its 2002 spring schedule with a perfect 10-0 record on Saturday by handily defeating Rice at home, 3-1. The Tigers were led by sophomore-to-be Artie Brown’s two goals on the afternoon. Brown was the 2001 Louisiana Freshman of the Year and was named a second-team Southeastern Conference performer last season.
Mandy Heintz, who will be a junior in the fall, added the Tigers’ third goal of the non-conference battle against Rice at the newly-renovated LSU Soccer Complex on Saturday.
The LSU soccer team will begin its fall season on Aug. 31, as the Tigers travel to Nacogdoches, Texas, for a non-conference duel against Stephen F. Austin.
