BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — High winds and tough pin placements proved difficult to everyone but four-time defending champion Duke as LSU’s 18th-ranked women’s golf team dropped from eighth to 11th after the second round here Saturday of the Lady Gamecock Classic at the South Carolina University Club.
Duke posted a 2-under team round of 286 to finish 36 holes at even par 576, 15 shots head of first-round leader Texas, now in second at 15-over 591.

LSU’s other score in the 70s came from freshman Brooke Shelton with a 6-over 78. She stands in a group at 10-over 154 (76-78), tied for 37th place.
The Lady Tigers other counting scores on the afternoon came from Devon Day (80) and Lindy Hitdlebaugh (84).
“It proved to be a tough round for us,” said LSU Coach Karen Bahnsen. “We were never able to adapt to the conditions and that cost us lots of shots. We’ll have to concentrate on every shot Sunday and try to finish on a good note.”
