ORLANDO — Members of the LSU men’s and women’s diving teams traveled to Orlando, Fla., for the Team Orlando Diving 2002 All-Star Invitational held at the YMCA Aquatic Center from Feb. 8-10.
The event features divers from around the nation who participated in the U.S. Zone Championships as well as international divers who participated in their country’s National Championships. Florida State, Florida, South Carolina and Miami are among the NCAA schools participating. The Mexican and Canadian national teams are also competing.
On the men’s side, Kyle VanArsdall and Jace Pitre will complete for LSU, while Jamie Watkins and Holly Winters represent the women’s team. Barb Gorst was scheduled to compete as well, but hit her hand on the diving board during practice and will not be able to take part in the event.
Competitors in the open division will compete on the 1- and 3-meter springboard as well as the 10-meter platform.
The event begins Friday with women’s 1-meter springboard and men’s 3-meter springboard. On Saturday, the men will take to the 1-meter and the women will move to the 3-meter. The platform diving competition will be Sunday.
