Reed Earns Yet Another All-America Honor; Faulk on 4th Team

BATON ROUGE — LSU wide receiver Josh Reed earned yet another All-America honor on Saturday as he was named first team All-America by the Sporting News.

Reed, a junior from Rayne, La., led the nation with a Southeastern Conference record 1,740 yards on an LSU record 94 receptions this year.

Saturday’s first team recognition from the Sporting News marks the seventh first team honor for Reed this season. Reed, the winner of this year’s Biletnikoff Award for the nation’s top receiver, has been named first team All-America by Walter Camp, the Associated Press, the Football Writer’s Association, CNNSI.com, ABC Sports online, Collegefootballnews.com and the Sporting News.

Reed had a school-record 10 100-yard games this year for the Tigers, including a career-high of 19 catches for 293 yards against Alabama. The 19 receptions and 293 yards were both SEC single-game records. Reed also holds the SEC mark for single-season receiving yards (1,740) and career receiving yards (3,001).

Reed led the nation with 145 yards receiving per game and his 7.8 receptions a contest ranked third nationally. Reed led the SEC in yards per game, receptions per game and all-purpose yards a contest (155.0). Reed is one of only three receivers in SEC history to have back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

LSU linebacker Trev Faulk earned fourth team All-America status from the Sporting News after registering a team-best 119 tackles, including five for losses and a pair of sacks. Faulk, a first team All-SEC pick for the last two years, was earlier named second team All-America by the Associated Press.
