BATON ROUGE — With more than 50,000 requests for 15,000 Sugar Bowl tickets that LSU received, tickets will be allocated to Tiger Athletic Foundation members, LSU Board of Supervisors, faculty and other University support groups by priority and then mailed Tuesday, Dec. 18, according to LSU Ticket Manager Brian Broussard.
Of the 15,000, 1,500 will be made available to LSU students on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. Students are not allowed to begin waiting in line for tickets until 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.
“There’s no way to help everyone,” Broussard told The Advocate. “We’re trying to pare the number (of tickets per order) and help as many as we can.”
Season ticket holders who are also members of the Tiger Athletic Foundation will receive priority over non-donors.
“People are going to have to realize to get tickets in a situation like this they’ve got to belong to TAF,” LSU Athletics Director Skip Bertman said in The Advocate. “TAF has a priority point list and people who are better (more giving) members are going to get the most tickets.”
Southeastern Conference Champion LSU (9-3, 5-3 SEC) plays Big Ten Champion Illinois in the 2002 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, La., on Jan. 1 at 7:30 p.m. on ABC as part of the Bowl Championship Series.
After taking more than a week off with final exams, the LSU football team resumes practice on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
