BATON ROUGE — LSU senior defensive end Jarvis Green earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors after registering seven tackles and a sack in the Tigers’ SEC West-clinching victory over Auburn on Saturday.
Green, a native of Donaldsonville, La., ran his career sack total to 20 in the Tigers’ 27-14 victory. His sack moved him past current Atlanta Falcon Chuck Wiley and into sole possession of fourth place on the all-time LSU sack list.
Green won the honor for the first time in his four-year career and became the fourth different Tiger to win the award this season, joining Josh Reed, LaBrandon Toefield and Trev Faulk who each won the award this season.
Green leads the Tiger defense with four sacks on the season, his highest single season total since recording seven in 1999.
