Rain Forces Tigers Indoors

BATON ROUGE — Heavy rain in the Baton Rouge area Wednesday afternoon forced LSU indoors as the Tigers continue to prepare for Saturday’s Southeastern Conference contest against Kentucky. LSU practiced for just over two hours at the indoor practice facility.

LSU enters the Kentucky contest with a 2-2 overall mark and an 0-2 SEC record. Kentucky is 1-4 overall and 0-3 in league play. Last year, the Tigers posted a 34-0 win over the Wildcats in Lexington. Kickoff for Saturday’s contest in Lexington is set for 6 p.m. CT and can be seen in Louisiana on Tigervision.

“I’ve been really pleased with the way this team has responded this week and bounced back and tried to make a really good effort to improve in a lot of areas of emphasis yesterday and today,” LSU coach Nick Saban said. “I think one of the things that I was concerned about our team is that when you have expectations, and everyone has a lot of expectations for what they want to accomplish individually and as a team, I have preached to this team that sometimes you focus on the outcome so much that you forget about the process and how important it is to do things correctly. I wanted to make sure that it didn’t happen to our team.

“I think this (Kentucky) is the most dangerous team we’ve played to this point in the season. Playing on the road is a real challenge for us. They have an outstanding athlete playing quarterback who can make a lot of plays. I’m sure they (Kentucky) are looking to bounce back and play well. I think its going to be a heck of a football game.”

Saban listed cornerback Robert Davis (knee) and running back Devery Henderson (ankle) as out for the Kentucky game. Saban said that Davis is more than likely lost for the season.

Saban also said that quarterback Rohan Davey has “gotten a lot better every day. He doesn’t have a serious injury. It’s a bruised patella tendon, which is something that is painful.”
