FARGO, N.D. — LSU golfer Meredith Duncan of Shreveport advanced to the second round and won her 14th straight match before falling to Martha Leach in the third round, 2-up, in the 71st Women’s Trans National Amateur golf tournament Thursday at the Fargo Country Club.
Duncan, who will be a senior at LSU this fall, defeated Deb Means, 1-up to advance to the third round. In the third round, she was upset by Martha Leach of Hebron, Ky., 2-up. Leach is one of six associate directors for the Trans-National Amateur Championship.
Duncan was trying for her third major amateur title of the summer, having already won the Women’s Western Amateur and the North-South Amateur title.
