NEW YORK — LSU offensive tackle Brandon Winey, quarterback Josh Booty and offensive lineman Louis Williams were all selected on day 2 of the 2001 National Football League Draft on Sunday afternoon.
Winey was selected by the Miami Dolphins as the first pick of the sixth round, the 164th overall pick, while Booty was taken eight picks later, 172nd overall, by the Seattle Seahawks.
Louis Williams, who platooned throughout the LSU offensive line, was selected by the Carolina Panthers as the 11th pick of the seventh and final round, the 211th overall pick.
Winey, a 6-6, 305-pound converted tight end, was named a Top-100 prospect by many draft prognosticators but fell to the draft’s second day.
Miami received the first selection of the sixth round from San Diego by virtue of a trade.

Booty, who left LSU after his junior season, was the 10th quarterback selected in the 2001 NFL Draft and the third from the Southeastern Conference behind Quincy Carter of Georgia (2nd Rd., 53rd pick) and Jesse Palmer of Florida (4th, 125th). He was the sixth quarterback taken on day two of the seven-round, 246-player draft.
