Rutka, Fisher Win Tulane Doubles Title

NEW ORLEANS — The freshman doubles team of Sebastian Rutka and Bryan Fisher won the “A” Flight of the 2000 Tulane Invitational on Sunday at the Goldring Tennis Center in New Orleans.

Rutka and Fisher won their third straight match in the eight-team doubles draw, 9-7, over Tulane’s Derya Rose and Mattias Westerberg.

In singles play, both Fisher and Rutka lost their chances at the title. In Flight “B,” Fisher fell to Michael Chkrown of UNO, 6-3, 6-2, while Rutka lost in the consolation final of flight “A” to Jacob Ilowski of UL-Lafayette, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.
