HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. — LSU senior women’s golfer Katy Harris fired a one-under par round of 71 and is tied for the individual lead after the first day of the NCAA Fall Preview Tournament here Friday at the El Campeon Course at the Mission Inn Resort.
Harris, from South Bend, Ind., fired a one-under 34 on the front nine and an even par 37 on the back side to post her one under round and she is tied for the lead with Cristina Baena of Arizona. Five other golfers shot even par 72s.
Duke is the early leader of the tournament after one round of the 54-hole event with an eight-over 296, two shots better than Arizona with Southern California, Auburn and Wake Forest tied for third at 300. Nebraska is sixth at 304, with Texas at 306. LSU is one shot back at 19-over 307 in eighth place, one shot better than Tennessee at 308. Central Florida’;s 309 rounds out the top 10.
LSU had to count one 80-plus round in its team score with Meredith Duncan posting a five over 77 to stand in a tie for 33rd place after the first day. Lesley McClurg had a 78 and Devon Day was the last counting score at nine-over 81.
