LEXINGTON, Ky. — For the second time in as many days, the LSU baseball team defeated the Kentucky Wildcats, 6-3, in game two of the three game series in Lexington, Ky., Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers (37-15, 17-8 SEC) benefitted from four unearned runs while Bo Pettit continued to pitch well in SEC player, improving to 5-3 on the season after pitching 6 2/3 innings. Shane Youmand and Trey Hodges also pitched well in relief of Pettit.
With the win, LSU took over first place in the SEC Western Division after Mississippi State (15-8) lost to Florida, 6-3, Saturday evening.
The Tigers will go for the three-game sweep Sunday at noon. Hunter Gomez (7-0, 2.81 ERA) will take the mound for the Tigers.
