A strong contender for a starting role in the 2001 rotation after an excellent 2000 season as a relief pitcher.

2000 Season
Made 28 relief appearances, posting a 3-0 mark with a 4.55 ERA in 31.2 innings…worked mostly in the late innings against left-handed batters, as he combined with Weylin Guidry to give LSU an outstanding left-righty combo out of the bullpen…recorded one save on the season with 20 walks and 25 strikeouts…limited left-handed hitters to a .205 batting average… made one relief appearance in the College World Series, as he worked 1.2 innings in the CWS semi-final versus Florida State (June 15), allowing two runs on three hits with one walk and one strikeout…earned victory in NCAA Baton Rouge Regional title games versus UL-Monroe (May 28), working three shutout innings and limiting the Indians to four hits…pitched effectively in two SEC Tournament outings, earning a win over Alabama (May 20) in his second appearance…pitched a total of 3.2 innings in the SEC Tournament, allowing one run on three hits with two walks and two Ks…earned the save at Auburn (April 2) with a excellent effort; he pitched three scoreless innings against the SEC’s top-hitting team at that time, allowing no hits with one walk and two Ks…earned relief victory over South Carolina (March 25), allowing no runs and one hit in one inning with two walks and one K.

1999 Season
Appeared in four games (one start), posting no decisions and a 3.52 ERA in 7.2 innings…allowed seven hits and five runs (three earned) with eight walks and four strikeouts…pitched in two SEC games, allowing four hits and one earned run in 4.1 innings (2.08 ERA) with five walks and two Ks…became just the second African-American starting pitcher in LSU history when he opened on the mound vs. Southern (March 23) at Zephyr Field in Metairie, La….worked 2.1 innings against Southern, allowing two runs on two hits with two walks and one strikeout; he was not involved in the decision of the game, which LSU won, 7-6, in 11 innings.

High School
Lettered four years as a pitcher and outfielder at New Iberia High…earned all- district and all-Acadiana honors as a junior and senior…hit .432 as a senior, while also going 6-1 on the mound…hit .420 for his career…was a forward on the Yellow Jackets’ 1997 district champion basketball team…coached in baseball by Greg Boudreaux and in basketball by Russell Menard.
