BATON ROUGE, La. — Tyson Schweitzer’s pinch-hit grand slam ignited a five-run seventh inning to propel Houston to a 10-2 victory over LSU Sunday at Alex Box Stadium, completing a three-game sweep for the Cougars.

The Tigers (6-5), which have lost five in a row for the first time since 1985, host Nicholls St. Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The series marked the first time LSU has been swept in a three-game series at home since losing three to Auburn in 1988, and the first time the Tigers have been swept in a non-conference series since dropping a series at Wichita State in 1988.

The Cougars held a 2-1 lead through six innings, and led off the seventh with a single by Eric Lee and a sacrifice bunt by Aaron Melebeck. Sean Allen signled Lee to third, then Lee came home on Jason Pekar’s RBI double, driving starter Billy Brian (1-2) from the game.

Reliever Tim Nugent hit Brandon Caraway to load the bases, then Schweitzer hit Nugent’s 1-1 offering over the right-field fence.

The Tigers had 11 hits, all singles, and scored in the third on Mike Fontenot’s base hit and in the eighth on Victory Brumfield’s ground out.
