AUSTIN, Texas — LSU diver Jamie Watkins continued to shine at the 2000 All-American Diving Championships Thursday as the sophomore from Jacksonville, Fla., won the one-meter title with a score of 425.85.

Watkins won the three-meter title Wednesday afternoon at the Lee & Joe Jamail Swimming Center in Austin, Texas.

After finishing second in the one-meter preliminaries earlier in the day, Watkins took the lead in the semifinals and cruised to a more than 10-point victory over Texas’ Kristen Marquis.

LSU senior Gretchen Mury qualified for the semifinals of the event, finishing 18th overall with a score of 341.17, while sophomore Holly Winters finished one spot below Mury at 19th place. Lady Tiger freshman Michelle Coryell placed 32nd in the field of 44.

On the men’s side, Corey Fox matched his one-meter competition finish to place fourth in the three-meter competition with a score of 539.60, three points behind third-place finisher Chad Sheldon of South Carolina.

Texas’ Troy Dumais dominated the men’s three-meter with a score of 694.80.

Other Tiger competitors include Kyle Van Arsdall in 15th place (423.25) and Erik Petursson in 20th place (231.20).
