BATON ROUGE — LSU men’s basketball Head Coach John Brady Monday completed his coaching staff for the 2004-05 season with the announcement that John Treloar from Indiana University would join the Tiger basketball program.
Treloar comes to LSU from Indiana University, where he has served on the staff for the past seven seasons. While at Indiana, he has been on teams that have been to six NCAA Tournaments working under coaches Bob Knight and Mike Davis, including the 2002 Hoosier team, which advanced to the NCAA Final Four.
“John Treloar brings a wealth of background to our program in terms of being a basketball coach to our staff,” said LSU Coach John Brady in a Monday press conference to announce the hiring.
The native of Clinton, Miss., Treloar attended Belhaven College, the alma mater of Coach Brady, and received his master’s degree at the University of Alabama. There he began his coaching career, serving two seasons as academic counselor and graduate assistant.
Of his Belhaven years, Brady remarked: “John was a walk-on basketball player and baseball player there. John was a couple of years behind me in school. I remember when he used to guard me in practice, being a walk-on, that was his game. He used to bother me all the time. I would say why do you guard me so hard in practice and he would just wear me out. He is extremely competitive. Then after he left Belhaven we kind of went our separate ways
