In the 2025-26 season, Thomas Brown made an immediate impact upon arrival as the assistant coach for the LSU Men’s Tennis team. The Sumpter, S.C. native played an integral role in LSU's turnaround during the 2025-26 season. Contributing to the Tigers’ 26-7 record, he helped pave the way for the squad’s first ITA National Indoor Team Championships since 2006, a No. 5 national ranking, a 10-4 SEC record, the No. 3 seed in the SEC Tournament, an SEC Tournament semifinal appearance, and NCAA Regional hosting rights for the first time since 2009. LSU also recorded 11 ranked victories, including three over top-10 opponents and a road win over No. 2 Texas, the program's highest-ranked victory in more than two decades.
Brown was also pivotal in supporting the players’ development, from the newcomers to second-year talents. Freshman Olaf Pieczkowski was named SEC Freshman of the Year while earning All-SEC First Team and SEC All-Freshman Team honors. Fellow freshman Erik Arutiunian garnered All-SEC Second Team and SEC All-Freshman Team recognition. At the same time, Andrej Loncarevic earned All-SEC Second Team accolades and the ITA Southern Region Most Improved Player, giving LSU three All-SEC selections and two members of the conference's All-Freshman Team.
Brown competed on the ATP World Tour, achieving a career-high ranking of 865 during his professional career. Before going pro, he was a professional coach at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Fairfield, Conn.
His collegiate tennis career started at the University of South Carolina, competing with the Gamecocks from 2017 to 2021 and proving to be a vital part of the team. One of his most notable matches was a clinch against NC State to send the team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA postseason for the first time in 16 years. He ended his career at South Carolina with 54 singles wins and a 17-8 record at the No. 6 position.
Off the court, he was recognized for his academic achievements as he was a four-time ITA Scholar Athlete and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in public health.
After his time at South Carolina, Brown went on to graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he also competed with the tennis team. He appeared at the No. 1 court for both singles and doubles for the entire season. Brown was named First Team All-Conference USA player, the conference’s Newcomer of the Year, and Team MVP.
