JUNIOR SEASON (1999-2000): Received the Bev Boys Award for the Most Outstanding All-Around Diver at the Canadian Summer Senior Championships. Qualified for the finals at the Southeastern Conference Championships by placing sixth in the platform competition (472.55) and seventh in the 1-meter event (467.95)… Scored the Southeastern Conferences ninth-highest point total of the season in the 1-meter dual competition with a score of 308.32… Scored the SECs seventh-highest point total in both the 1-meter championship competition and the platform event with scores of 491.45 and 472.55 respectively… Member of the SEC Mens Swimming and Diving Academic Honor Roll by graduating with a 3.818 grade point average in three years in international trade and finance along with a minor in psychology… Earned his third varsity letter.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (1998-99): Qualified for the NCAA Diving Championships by placing ninth and scoring 522.35 in the 3-meter competition at the NCAA Diving Regional Championships… Finished second at the 1999 Canadian Summer Senior National Championships in the 3-meter synchronized diving event… Member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll… Won the 1-meter diving competition against Florida State… Earned his second varsity letter.
FRESHMAN SEASON (1997-98): Won the LSU Coaches Award as a freshman… Nearly qualified for the final round of the SEC Championships in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard competitions by finishing in the 10th and 11th-place positions respectively… Second on the team in both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events in championship competition… Recorded the fifth-highest score in school history with a score of 501.75 on the 1-meter springboard at the Cajun Diving Classic… Scored 522.50 points in the 3-meter competition at the Cajun Diving Classic… Earned his first varsity letter.
Prior to LSU: Placed eighth in the 1-meter event at the Canadian Winter Senior National Championships… Placed fifth at the 1997 Summer Senior National Championships… Voted the teams Most Valuable Performer during his senior season at Western Canada High School.
Personal: Born July 17, 1978… Parents are Jon Petursson and Donna McLean… Graduated in 2000 with a major in International Trade and Finance along with a minor in psychology… He is now pursuing his MBA with a concentration in ISDS.
