TO: Fans, Friends, and Supporters of LSU Athletics
FROM: Skip Bertman, Athletics Director
It’s only June, but Tiger fans everywhere are already counting down the days to the opening game of the 2007 LSU football season.
The enthusiasm surrounding LSU football is evident in the ticket orders from our fans. LSU football fans will travel in record numbers to the Tigers’ road football games this season based on the number of tickets you have requested to our five road games.
All tickets allotted to us for the Tigers’ away games have been sold, with the exception of our September 29 game against Tulane in the Superdome. We have a unique agreement with Tulane in which we are allotted 40,000 tickets to the game and we retain all revenue from those ticket sales. Tickets to the LSU-Tulane game range in price from $40 to $55.
LSU season ticket holders had the first opportunity to request tickets to the Tigers’ road games. All requests were due by May 31 and season ticket holders will be notified beginning next week if their requests will be filled.
Season ticket holder requests claimed 22,300 of the 40,000 tickets for the LSU-Tulane game. The remaining are on sale at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office, online at LSUsports.net and by phone at (225) 578-2184.
ROAD FOOTBALL GAME TICKET REQUESTS
LSU has been allotted 7,000 tickets for our games at Mississippi State on August 30, at Alabama on November 3 and at Ole Miss on November 17. We are allotted 6,000 for our game at Kentucky on October 13.
Approximately 33,000 requests were received from our season ticket holders for the LSU-Alabama game to be played in Tuscaloosa on November 3, the most ticket requests ever received for a regular season road game.
In addition, Tiger fans requested 7,500 for the Mississippi State game, 7,800 for the Kentucky game, and 12,600 for the Ole Miss game. The orders for the Kentucky and Ole Miss games numbered the most ever requested by LSU fans for trips to Lexington and Oxford.
There were no limitations put on the number of tickets a season ticket holder could request. As you will recall, we utilize the LSU Priority Point System when the demand for tickets exceeds the number of tickets allotted to LSU.
TICKET DISTRIBUTION TO ROAD GAMES
LSU’s allotment of tickets to the road games is distributed in the same manner as tickets to bowl games. Tickets are allocated first to players, coaches, LSU students, LSU Athletic Department staff and University official party. Next, tickets are allocated to football season tickets holders who placed their order by May 31 on the LSU Priority Point System. Finally, a limited number are placed into a lottery.
Season ticket holders are ranked in the LSU Priority Point System according to lifetime donations made to the Tiger Athletic Foundation and LSU’s Tradition Fund by May 31 of this year, as well as donations made to the LSU Foundation or LSU Alumni Foundation between May 18, 2006, and May 31 of this year.
For each road game, season ticket holders ranked No. 1 through No. 100 will receive up to eight tickets, No. 101 to No. 250 will receive up to six tickets, No. 251 to No. 750 will receive up to four tickets and all other ticket holders in descending order will receive up to two tickets until the supply is exhausted. Approximately four percent of the available tickets for each game will go into a lottery through which all remaining season ticket holders will be eligible for two tickets.
Four percent is a figure that was reached based on the percentage of seats in Tiger Stadium owned by season ticket holders that do not require a Tradition Fund contribution or Tiger Athletic Foundation donation.
