(From SLAM Sports) — Adrian Mayes wants to make people forget about Antonious Bonner, but that’s not going to happen if he keeps playing like the departed veteran.
Mayes, an LSU product (2000-03) who spent time in the organizations of the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals before signing with the Argos last month, was a defensive standout in a pre-season game against the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday.
His new head coach was still buzzing about Mayes play at practice yesterday.
There are few holes to be filled in the Argos’ defence, but Mayes has shown he could be capable of taking over from Bonner, who was not re-signed after 10 years with Toronto.
