Hofer, Bradford Named LSU Athletes of the Week

BATON ROUGE — Pitchers Jared Bradford and Dani Hofer were named the LSU Male and Female Athletes of the Week on Tuesday following a vote by a local media panel.

Bradford delivered an exceptional outing this past Sunday as he led LSU to a 10-1 victory over Auburn. A native of Hueytown, Ala., Bradford limited the Plainsmen to one run on six hits in seven innings with just one walk and nine strikeouts.

With his performance, Bradford improved his record to 5-2 on the year with a staff-best 2.73 ERA. In 56 innings this season, he has recorded 49 strikeouts and 11 walks and his opponents are batting just .237 against him.

Hofer earned three wins last week, picking up victories against conference foes Kentucky and South Carolina as she averaged 10.3 strikeouts a game.

Hofer began the week with a complete-game win over the Wildcats as she allowed just four runs on two hits against the SEC’s second-leading home run-hitting team.

The Safety Harbor, Fla., native completed her week with a pair of back-to-back shutout victories over the Gamecocks. She allowed just one hit in her first appearance in the circle and followed that with a two-hit performance where she was credited with retiring 17 straight runners at one point.
