Lady Tigers Ranked No. 4 in Final Coaches Poll

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s women’s basketball team finished fourth in the final 2006-07 USA Today/ESPN/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), it was released on Wednesday following Tuesday night’s national championship game.

The Lady Tigers (30-8), who advanced to the program’s fourth straight NCAA Final Four with wins over UNC Ashville, West Virginia, Florida State and Connecticut, finished behind No. 1 and national champion Tennessee, Rutgers and North Carolina in the final poll.

LSU lost to Rutgers in the national semifinal game in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday night.

This marks the fourth straight season LSU has finished in the top four after placing third in the final polls in 2003-04 and 2004-05 and fourth last season.

LSU finished 12th in the final Associated Press poll that was releas prior to the start of the NCAA tournament.
