BATON ROUGE — Renowned country artists Brooks and Dunn, nominated recently for seven 2006 Country Music Association awards, will perform a free concert on the LSU Parade Grounds at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 23.
The event, to be held prior to the 7 p.m. LSU-Tulane football game, is billed as “The Ultimate Tiger Tailgating Concert” presented by Coca-Cola.
The event is a rare opportunity to provide a free concert from one of the world’s top recording groups in celebration of LSU’s great fans, through the generosity of Coca-Cola.
“We’re known for great tailgating at LSU,” said Darian Chustz, President of Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company. “Coca-Cola is really excited that we can bring Tiger fans the opportunity to see Brooks and Dunn in concert for free. It is truly going to be the “Ultimate Tailgate Party.”
Admission is free for the event and gates will open for the concert at the Parade Grounds at 9:30 a.m. There will be no outside food or drink permitted inside the Parade Grounds and overnight camping on the LSU campus is not permitted. Chairs and other like items are also prohibited and no bags (which will be searched) larger than 8.5 x 11 will be permitted.
Because of the concert, no tailgating will be permitted on the Parade Grounds on Sept. 23 and parking on Tower Drive will be prohibited. Tower Drive will also close at 7 p.m. on the day of the event. While it is unavoidable some tailgaters will be inconvenienced, the rare, free concert from Brooks and Dunn will be a once in a lifetime GameDay experience.
