OMAHA, Neb. — The LSU baseball team paid a visit to the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center of Omaha on Saturday morning, just one day after qualifying for the CWS Championship Series against Texas that starts on Monday.

The Tiger players lifted the spirits of numerous young patients at the Children’s Hospital, signed autographs and participated in games.  Photos of the visit can be seen here.

Among the highlights of the visit was a hotly contested video game auto race between Tiger pitcher Paul Bertuccini and a young patient named Emily.  Bertuccini found himself on the losing end of the contest.

The Tigers sang “Happy Birthday” to another young patient named Hannah, fondly known as “Hannah Banana” by hospital staff.  The young Hannah will turn eight years old on Sunday.  Before the Tigers left, Hannah defeated Tiger centerfielder Mikie Mahtook in spirited game of Jenga.

In a foreshadowing of LSU’s games with the Longhorns this week, the Tigers met young patients named Dallas and Austin at the Children’s Hospital.
