EASTBOURNE, Great Britain — Former LSU All-American Ken Skupski continued to make an impact on the grass courts on Tuesday as he and partner Colin Fleming clinched their match in the opening round of the AEGON International hosted at Devonshire Park.

Wild card duo Skupski and Fleming defeated Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. As the duo moves into the quarterfinals, Skupski and Fleming will face either third-seeded tandem Bruno Soares and Kevin Ullyett or fellow wild card team Jonathan Erlich and Jaime Murray.

The tournament is rated as one of the top 30 in the world and draws more than 35,000 people each year.

Most recently, Skupski and Fleming competed at the AEGON Championships at the Queen’s Club where the duo defeated Bob and Mike Bryan, the world’s top tandem, en route to reaching the tournament quarterfinals.

Skupski is currently ranked No. 138 in the ATP Individual Doubles Rankings, jumping 10 spots from last week,  and completed eligibility at LSU in the 2005-06 season, leaving as one of the most decorated players in the history of the program.
