BATON ROUGE — Head coach Fran Flory announced the signing of Meghan Mannari Monday to a National Letter of Intent to play for the LSU volleyball program. She will enter as a freshman for the 2009 season.
Mannari, a 5-9 defensive specialist, was a two-time All-State First-Team selection at Bishop Lynch High School in Frisco, Texas. Her high school team won the 2008 TAPPS 5A state championship as Mannari served as team captain and earned District MVP honors. She also is listed on Prep Volleyball’s Defensive “Dandy Lion” First Team and Senior Aces Top 150 list.
“Meghan is a wonderful addition to our roster,” Flory said. “She is a solid passer and exceptional defensive player. Meghan also is a fantastic student of the game with a tremendous work ethic who possesses an excellent volleyball IQ.”
Mannari played for the Skyline Junior Volleyball Club where her team finished second at the 2008 USAV Junior Nationals Open division. Her club squad also qualified for the 2009 tournament later this month.
LSU is coming off its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance under Flory. Seven of the Tigers eight returning letterwinners for the 2009 season saw action in at least 20 matches last season.
