BATON ROUGE — LSU sophomore women’s golf Megan McChrystal was named a second team Duramed NGCA Division I All-American late Friday night at the annual awards banquet of the National Golf Coaches Association.
The awards were announced following the conclusion of the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships at Owings Mills, Md.
McChrystal set an LSU single season stroke average record of 72.69 for her 29 rounds this season, topping the previous mark of 73.12 by Meredith Duncan during the 2001-02 season. McChrystal, from Stuart, Fla., also had two tournament wins during the year already making her one of just seven golfers with multiple individual titles during their LSU careers.
McChrystal and LSU freshman Jacqueline Hedwall were also named to the NGCA All-West Region team for their performance in the NCAA Regional qualifying tournament held earlier in the month in Tempe, Ariz. Both golfers had top 10 finishes that helped seventh-ranked LSU advance to the NCAA Division I women’s championships where LSU finished 12th.
