BATON ROUGE — Pitcher Louis Coleman of LSU and infielder Nick Mitchell of UNO were named Tuesday as the Louisiana Sportswriters Association Baseball Players of the Week.

Coleman, a senior right-hander from Schlater, Miss, was named Pitcher of the Week as he turned in a dominant outing against Arkansas on Saturday, recording a complete-game shutout as the Tigers posted a 5-0 victory. After surrendering a single to start the second inning, Coleman retired 19 straight Razorback hitters before Arkansas recorded its second hit with one out in the eighth inning.

Coleman improved his record to 9-2 on the year ? he leads the SEC in wins ? with a 2.71 ERA in 76.1 innings. He has recorded 92 strikeouts and 17 walks, and opponents are hitting just .211 against him.
