Tennis’ Bacala Receives ITA Promoter of the Year Award

BATON ROUGE — LSU men’s tennis manager Stevie Bacala received the 2009 Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Promoter of the Year Award the ITA announced on Friday.

Bacala, a native of Baton Rouge, has been the manager for the LSU men’s tennis team for five years, supporting the team through not only his job as manager, but added spirit and enthusiasm for the program.

“The award is special because of all the time and effort I’ve put into the job,” Bacala said. “It’s even more special because there are so many managers out there that do so much to promote their own programs, it feels good to be honored as one of the best.”

As a result of winning the award, Bacala will be featured on the ITA Web site, in press releases and also have the opportunity to intern at Wilson’s home office in Chicago, Ill. in either a communications or marketing department.

Wilson and the ITA created this award to recognize contributions from outstanding team managers and student-athletes that help to maximize support of their individual tennis programs as well as collegiate tennis.
