Dear Tiger Fan,
LSU’s sports teams are enjoying great success again this year. In fact, all 11 teams that have concluded their seasons have participated in bowl or NCAA post-season competition. The Tigers, in all sports, continue to contend for championships on a regular basis.
This weekend provides a tremendous opportunity to see many of your LSU teams in action. We are calling it Super Tiger Weekend as we pack 10 sporting events in five sports into four days on the LSU campus. And there is even the chance to win some great prizes.
The highlight of the weekend is the annual LSU Spring Football Game in Tiger Stadium at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Come out and tailgate like it is the regular season and get a preview of your 2009 Tigers. Admission is free if you pick up your ticket from the LSU Athletic Ticket Office in advance of the game, just $1 if printed online or $5 on the day of the game. Get all the information here.
Also at LSUsports.net you can download your ticket to great prize opportunities. Print an event card from our website and collect stickers at each of the events this weekend to qualify for various prizes, including two roundtrip tickets from Delta Airlines to anywhere in the United States (except Hawaii), Mexico, Canada or the Caribbean. Get all the details at LSUsports.net.
Super Tiger Weekend gets underway when LSU’s ultra-successful track and field teams, always in contention for conference and national titles, play host to the annual Alumni Gold Meet. It starts with competition in combined events on Thursday and Friday before the Alumni Gold Meet on Saturday, all at Bernie Moore Track Stadium. Admission is free.
The No. 1-ranked Tiger baseball team will battle Tennessee in a three-game series starting Friday at the new Alex Box Stadium and the LSU softball team will meet No. 1 Florida in a critical three-game set Saturday and Sunday at the new Tiger Park. If you have not seen our new baseball and softball stadiums, this is a great opportunity to catch two LSU teams in important SEC action.
And finally, the men’s tennis team will finish its regular season with a match against Arkansas on Saturday at noon (Admission is free, also). Also, don’t miss the grand opening of the new LSU SportShop next to Mike the Tiger’s habitat. It is the best place to get the latest in LSU apparel and tailgating gear.
While you are watching LSU teams in action on campus this weekend, the LSU gymnastics team will be competing in the NCAA Championships at Lincoln, Nebraska. The Tigers made their first-ever appearance in the Super Six last year and are looking to make even bigger headlines this season. Best of luck to the Tigers in the biggest gymnastics event in college sports.
In addition, the LSU men’s and women’s golf teams are competing in their respective SEC championships this weekend and the women’s tennis team wraps up its regular season Saturday at Arkansas.
