BATON ROUGE — Seimone Augustus, Temeka Johnson and Elaine Powell, all former LSU women’s basketball stars, are on the 2006 WNBA All-Star ballot. Fans can vote now at www.wnba.com.

The WNBA All-Star Balloting Program presented by T-Mobile and AOL.com will be conducted through June 25.

Starters for the WNBA All-Star Game will be determined by fan balloting. The nationwide second return voting results reflect fans making their All-Star selections during special in-arena balloting nights and by going online to WNBA.com. The actual list of starters will be announced by the WNBA on Wednesday, July 5. Reserve players will subsequently be selected by the League’s Eastern and Western Conference head coaches and announced by the league on Saturday, July 8.

Augustus, the league’s No. 1 pick in this year’s draft by the Minnesota Lynx, is the second leading scorer in the WNBA at 23.0 points per game. She is posting 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game and ranks 17th in the WNBA in field goal percentage (47.8 percent), and 11th in free throw percentage (86.8 percent).

Johnson, the 2005 WNBA Rookie of the Year, has started 10 games for the Los Angeles Sparks at point guard. She is third in the league in assists per game with 5.3 and is posting 8.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

Powell, a member of the 2003 Detroit Shock WNBA Champions, has started three games this season for the expansion Chicago Sky at point guard. She is posting 6.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game and is dishing out 3.2 assists per contest.  

The WNBA All-Star game will be played in New York’s Madison Square Garden on July 12.
