PINEHURST, N.C. — LSU senior golfer to be Alexis Rather swept through her fourth match in as many days to capture the first flight championship of the Women’s Southern Amateur Championships here Friday.
Rather, who made it to the championship flight of 32 semifinals last year and just missed by one stroke qualifying again this year, defeated Leccia Alexander of Stafford, Texas in the flight championship 18-hole match.
For the first time this week, Rather was forced the distance, winning the match 1 Up on the 18th hole.
University of Georgia sophomore, Taylor Leon of Dallas, downed Arkansas Ladyback Stacey Lewis of The Woodlands, Texas, 1 Up to capture the championship flight honors.
