BATON ROUGE — LSU senior Megan Akre was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Track and Field/Cross Country team it was announced Thursday by CoSIDA.
Akre, a native of Sugar Land, Texas, was honored for her contributions to the LSU track and field team both in the classroom and on the track.
Akre, who received her undergraduate degree in marketing during LSU’s spring commencement two weeks ago, is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll that graduated with a 3.62 grade point average.
Her exploits on the track have been just as successful as she was crowned the 2006 SEC pentathlon champion. An NCAA qualifier in the pentathlon during the indoor season, she has also qualified to compete at the outdoor national meet in the heptathlon.
In addition, Akre has posted pentathlon and heptathlon point totals that rank among the all-time top 10 at LSU. Her personal-best 3,971 points in the pentathlon ranks as the fifth best in Lady Tiger history, while her career best of 5,352 points in the heptathlon is the 10th best all-time.
