BATON ROUGE — LSU’s senior baseball players will be honored on Saturday prior to the Tigers’ 2 p.m. game with Vanderbilt, highlighting a special weekend of promotional activities in Alex Box Stadium.
The Tigers, winners of six of their last seven games, play host to Vanderbilt in a three-game SEC series at 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
The series opens Friday with Law Enforcement Appreciation Night, as all members of law enforcement agencies will be admitted for only $4 by presenting their badges at the gate. LSU’s live tiger mascot, Mike V, will also make an appearance on the field prior to the game.
LSU’s 2006 senior players will be recognized prior to Game 2 on Saturday. The players include pitcher Chris Cahill, pitcher Chase Dardar, infielder/pitcher Will Harris, catcher Matt Liuzza, outfielder Bruce Sprowl, outfielder Quinn Stewart and infielder Gee Victoriano. The seniors have contributed to two College World Series appearances, two NCAA Regional titles and one SEC championship during their playing careers.
Sunday is Bring Mom to the Ball Park Day in commemoration of Mother’s Day. Following the game, all kids (age 12 and under) can run the bases on the field with their moms.
