TO: Fans, Friends, and Supporters of LSU Athletics
FROM: Skip Bertman, Athletics Director
This week in Knoxville, Tenn., the women’s basketball coaching staff participated in a Habitat for Humanity project to build a home that will eventually be moved to Baton Rouge. The house was built in conjunction with the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame weekend and is dedicated to the memory of Sue Gunter.
This is but one of many, many community service projects in which LSU student-athletes and coaches participate each year. LSU’s wins and losses are well-documented in newspaper, radio and television, and the economic impact of LSU sports has been reported on a number of occasions. But you should know that behind the scenes your athletic program is a viable and important part of the fabric of our city and state for the service role it plays.
So this week I am simply presenting to you some of the headlines that have appeared on our website LSUsports.net during the course of the last year.
