ST. LOUIS — Seimone Augustus, a senior guard on LSU’s women’s basketball team, was named to the 10-member United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-America team, it was announced by the media organization on Thursday.
 
Augustus, who received the USBWA National Player of the Year honor last season, was edged out by North Carolina’s Ivory Latta this year. Augustus, who has led LSU back to the Final Four for the third straight season, leads the nation is scoring with 23.0 points per game, including her 23.0 points per game average in the four NCAA Tournament games.
 
The All-American team also includes Duke’s Monique Currie, Ohio State’s Jessica Davenport, Maryland’s Crystal Langhorne, Oklahoma’s Courtney Paris, Tennessee’s Candace Parker, Rutgers’ Cappie Pondexter, Stanford’s Candice Wiggins and Baylor’s Sophia Young.
 
Augustus has also received All-America honors this season from the Associated Press and the John R. Wooden Award. The Baton Rouge native was named the AP’s National Player of the Year as well.
 
LSU and Augustus play Duke in the national semifinal on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. CST in Boston’s TD Banknorth Garden.
