BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A total of 26 LSU student-athletes were named to the 2005-06 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced on Thursday.
The LSU swimming and diving teams topped the list of teams with members on the Honor Roll, placing 11 women and four men on the list. In addition, four members of the nationally ranked Tiger gymnastics team made the list, including All-American Terin Martinjak. Sophomores Rashonta LeBlanc and Ashley Thomas of the Final Four Lady Tiger team were also honored.
Five member of the Final Four men’s basketball team were on the Honor Roll. Among the selections were consensus SEC Player of the Year and 2006 All-American Glen Davis, All-SEC selection Darrel Mitchell and starting guard Garrett Temple. Junior Darnell Lazare and sophomore David Fleshman were also honored.
A total of 330 student-athletes were named to the 2005-06 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll. The University of Florida topped the list with 59 student-athletes on the winter academic roster. The University of Georgia was next with 38 honorees. The University of Kentucky was next in line with 36 winter student-athletes honored, which also included rifle student-athletes.
The 2005-06 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2005 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
