BATON ROUGE – The LSU men’s tennis team will conclude its home weekend with a match against 22nd-ranked Memphis at noon Sunday in the LSU Tennis Complex.

Thoughts from the Co-Head Coach Chris Brandi
“Memphis is another really good team, and we will have to play a complete match from the first point to make it competitive,” co-head coach Chris Brandi said. “The guys had a great practice this morning after a tight match last night, and we are excited to see what happens.”
The Matchup
LSU has a 5-4 overall edge in the series against Memphis. Last season, LSU dropped a 6-1 match to Memphis at the Racquet Club of Memphis. Duo Julian Saborio and Gabor Csonka earned a win on the second doubles court against Ryan Peniston and Felix Rauch.
Tiger Tidbits
The Tigers are 8-9 on the season and are coming off of a 4-0 loss to Georgia at the LSU Tennis Complex.
In their second match on court one this season, Rafael Wagner and Agie Moreno defeated the reigning NCAA doubles runners-up, No. 10 Jan Zielinski and Robert Loeb, in a 6-3 contest. The win marked the first time in exactly one year since an LSU duo defeated a pair ranked in the ITA top-10. The pair is now 6-4 overall on the season and owns two wins against ranked opponents.
Wagner also has a team-best 15 wins in singles actions and has seven from court three. Nikola Samardzic, who has recently entered the doubles lineup with Saborio, holds 11 overall singles wins.
Notes on Memphis
Memphis is currently 12-4 overall and is coming off of a 4-3 comeback win against No. 28 Dartmouth in Memphis for its seventh-straight win.
Memphis has two men ranked in singles: No. 36 Peniston and No. 91 Andrew Watson. Peniston and Watson have combined on the doubles court and currently sit at No. 37 in the ITA Doubles rankings.
Kai Lemke leads Memphis with a 14-6 overall record, and the court three mainstay is 9-4 on the dual season. Watson and Jan Pallares have 12 and 11 wins respectively, and on court one, Peniston has an 8-2 record and a4-1 record against ranked competitors.
On court one, duo Peniston and Watson lead the team with a 9-3 overall record and are currently riding a six-match win streak.
