Notes on the Tigers
LSU is ranked No. 13 this week in the Baseball America poll, and the Tigers are No. 17 in this week’s official NCAA RPI rankings … sophomore right-hander Alex Lange fired his second straight complete game on Friday night to defeat ninth-ranked Ole Miss … Lange became the first LSU pitcher to record consecutive complete games since Aaron Nola posted four straight complete games during the 2013 season … Lange threw 108 pitches and limited Ole Miss on Friday to two earned runs on seven hits in nine innings with one walk and seven strikeouts … he also turned in a complete game against Mississippi State in his previous outing on April 23 … Lange improved to 5-3 this season, and he has recorded 82 strikeouts, the fourth-highest total in the SEC … LSU hit .320 (33-for-103) in the Ole Miss series with 10 doubles, one homer and 14 runs against a Rebel staff that has the third-best ERA in the league … junior catcher Jordan Romero batted .667 (4-for-6) in the Ole Miss series with one double, one homer and six RBI … Romero was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in Game 1 against the Rebels, and he was 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBI in Game 2 … freshman Chris Reid batted .556 at Ole Miss as he collected five hits in nine at-bats … Reid belted three doubles while scoring three runs and posting one RBI … Reid recorded a career-best four hits – including two doubles – in Game 3 of the Ole Miss series on Sunday … sophomore designated hitter Bryce Jordan batted .455 (5-for-11) at Ole Miss with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored .. junior centerfielder Jake Fraley had five hits in 15 at-bats with a double and two runs scored … junior shortstop Kramer Robertson contributed four hits in the series, smacking a double and scoring three times in the series.
