Men's Tennis Takes on Vanderbilt in SEC Tournament

BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 33 LSU men’s tennis team (14-10, 5-7 SEC) faces No. 34 Vanderbilt (16-12, 6-6 SEC) in the second round of the SEC Tournament at 9 a.m. CT Thursday in Columbia, South Carolina, at the Carolina Tennis Center.

“This is a match that could secure at least a second seed at the NCAA tournament for the winner,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “We have had a similar year as Vanderbilt and we both put things together as the season went along so it should be an interesting match.”

The Tigers closed out the regular season with a 5-2 loss against Georgia who is seeded at No. 1 for the tournament.

Junior Jordan Daigle and senior Boris Arias continue this week as LSU’s only ranked duo at No. 8 in the nation. Daigle leads the team in singles rankings at No. 52 along with Justin Butsch ranked 70th.

In their regular season matchup, LSU took a 5-2 victory against the Commodores in Nashville with a clinch from Andrew Korinek

Vanderbilt has two ranked singles players, No. 34 Daniel Valent and No. 103 Cameron Klinger. Klinger with partner Rhys Johnson make up the No. 14 doubles pair.

If the Tigers advance, they will take on No. 2 Florida at 9 a.m. CT Friday.
