BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU senior men’s tennis player Andrew Korinek was announced as a member of the 2015-16 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league office released Tuesday.
A student-athlete from each conference school was recognized for their hard work and dedication on and off the court.
Korinek was chosen to represent the Tigers as part of the 13-player team. This honor has been presented to one individual per university team since 2004 and has served as a way to recognize each athlete for more than what they do in competition.
Korinek has spent his time at LSU participating in many community service events and has actively participated in the annual Thanksgiving with the Tigers holiday event and the Halloween BOOzar every year.
Korinek took part in visits at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital where the team spent time with patients and worked with Big Buddy in their annual youth fishing event. He has also worked with Be the Match’s national bone marrow donor program and helped out with the Special Olympics.
The Dallas, Texas native has posted 10 singles wins and 15 doubles wins this season.
He and the No. 33 LSU men’s tennis squad will begin postseason competition Thursday in the second round of the SEC Tournament. The Tigers will square off against No. 34 Vanderbilt at 9 a.m. CT Thursday at South Carolina’s Carolina Tennis Center.
