LUBBOCK, Texas – LSU junior shortstop Alex Bregman is one of 25 semifinalists appearing on the watch list for the 2015 Brooks Wallace Award.
The award recognizes the nation’s top shortstop and will be presented during the National College Baseball Hall of Fame’s Night of Champions on June 29 in Lubbock.
Bregman, the 2013 Wallace Award winner as a freshman, is batting .329 this season with 22 doubles, three triples, eight homers, 42 RBI, 52 runs and 29 steals in 37 attempts. He has a .976 fielding percentage, having committed only seven errors in 295 chances.
Bregman is No. 1 in the SEC in stolen bases and doubles, No. 5 in runs scored and No. 5 in total bases (123).
Several conferences have multiple players on the list, led by the SEC with five and the Pac-12 with four.
