WICHITA, Kan. — LSU senior Kade Scivicque is one of 20 semifinalists for the 2015 Johnny Bench Award, given annually by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission to the nation’s top Division I catcher.
Ballots will be sent to the national voting panel at the end of May for a vote to determine the three finalists. The finalists will be announced on June 2, and a final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series.
Scivicque, a product of Maurepas, La., is batting .369 (78-for-206) with 15 doubles, five homers, 38 RBI and 25 runs scored. He has the Tigers’ third-highest slugging percentage (.530), and he has struck out just 18 times all season. Behind the plate, Scivicque has thrown out 16 base runners attempting to steal.
