BATON ROUGE, La. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Tuesday that LSU head coach Jeff Brown was named the 2015 Division I Men’s Tennis coach of the year for the Southern Region.
After narrowly missing out on the NCAA tournament last season, Brown guided the Tigers (18-9, 6-6 SEC) to their first season of 17 or more wins since 2007 as well as an appearance in the second round of the tournament.
“It is certainly an honor to be recognized and it means a lot for the program,” Brown said. “A ton of credit goes to [assistant coach] Danny [Bryan] for all of the work that he does as well as our training staff. This award is really a reflection on the staff as a whole.”
Brown was named Region III Coach of the Year by the ITA one other time in 1998. He is also a six-time Louisiana Coach of the Year winner and became LSU’s all-time win leader among men’s tennis coaches this season.
