BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s basketball team will travel to Texas Tech as part of the 2017 SEC/Big 12 Challenge announced Thursday by the two conference offices.
The four-team event began last season with two games in Little Rock, Arkansas and will continue with two games in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma next season. Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M are the initial participates in the event.
The SEC/Big 12 Challenge will expand to 10 games for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. The format features five home games for each conference played on campus sites per year. Matchups during the 2016-17 season will be scheduled from Thursday, Dec. 1 through Sunday, Dec. 4. Dates have not been finalized for the 2017-18 season at this time.
LSU has collected four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances highlighted by a pair of NCAA Sweet 16 trips under head coach Nikki Caldwell. The Lady Tigers also have secured a trio of 20-plus win seasons and have reached at least 10 SEC victories three times with Caldwell at the helm.
