BATON ROUGE, La. – D1 Baseball has recognized LSU junior shortstop Alex Bregman as its Midseason Top Player and LSU right-hander Alex Lange as its Midseason Top Freshman Pitcher.

The LSU duo headline D1 Baseball’s Midseason All-America team, along with Midseason Top Pitcher Dillon Tate of UC Santa Barbara and Midseason Top Freshman Player K.J. Harrison of Oregon State.

Bregman, a product of Albuquerque, N.M., is hitting .331 this season with 13 doubles, three triples, seven homers, 33 RBI and 22 stolen bases. He leads the SEC in stolen bases, and he is No. 5 in the league in total bases (89).

Bregman has a .985 fielding percentage at shortstop, with only three errors in 200 chances.

Lange, a product of Lee’s Summit, Mo., is 6-0 on the year, and he leads the SEC with a 1.39 ERA. Lange has pitched 51.2 innings, recording 61 strikeouts, the fourth-highest total in the SEC.

Lange has twice this season been named SEC Freshman of the Week, and he was selected as a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week on March 16.
